About That "eBay About Me" Page
If you have been selling on eBay you probably know about the free "About Me" page that is available to you.
In my opinion the eBay About Me Page is one of the less used but most powerful features that eBay offers it's sellers.
When you create a About Me Page, eBay will automatically provide a "About Me" icon on your seller listing pages, these icons link to sellers’ About Me pages.
If you have not view a About Me page yet just look for an eBay seller that has an "About Me" red and blue icon and visit the page by clicking the “Me” icon that appears near their user ID.
There are many ways to use your About Me page to increase your profits.
You can use your free "About Me" page as your own personal web page on eBay to clearly explain what your policies are to your buyers.
Use your About Me page to create a human bond and build trust with your customers, let them know that you are their friend and that you are there to help them.
Your About Me page can add personality to your User ID and/or your eBay Store.
Your About Me page lets you express yourself and get to know other members.
Use your About Me page by adding rich content to drive traffic from search results to your listings.
But what I really want to share with you is how to get more creative with your About Me page.
First you need to know that there are some eBay rules that you must abide by.
Here's some links to eBay's rules on using the "About Me" page:
About Me Pages: Creating
About Me Pages: Guidelines (Policy)
About Me Pages: Linking to (Policy)
About Me Pages: Special HTML Tags
The trick to using your About Me page, is to drive traffic From your Listing TO your About me page.
You can do this by adding a clickable link in your listing, preferably at the beginning of the listing, that will send customers to your About Me page.
Make sure you stay within eBay's rules when doing this.
As of the date of this post eBay's rules state:
"You may include links to your About Me page in your listings. However, you may not include language within those links that promotes items or other Web sites".
As of the date of this post you can use something like "For more info, see our About Me page", by turning it into a clickable link pointing to your About Me page.
On your About Me page you can do many things but make sure you stay within the guidelines of eBay's rules, also, keep a check on eBay's rules from time to time since they often change.
Some things to place on your About Me page are:
Offer more info. on your items by sending your customer off eBay to get the info.
Recommend another web site you have in a "creative way" without linking to it where you can get the customers contact info.
If you are building a mailing list you can add an offer to join a free newsletter adding an opt-in box from your auto-responder.
Offer free tips on how to do something by joining your newsletter.
Get the idea?
Your main goal is to get the eBay customer connecting with you off of eBay so you can get their contact info. and then you can stay in touch with them.
They will then become your customer and you can connect with them and build a relationship and sell to them direct without paying all those fees.
One of the best books on how to do this is the "Silent Sales Machine"by Jim Cockrum.
The "Silent Sales Machine" is one of the best selling "How To eBay" books ever written with close to 100,000 copies sold.
It's one of the best books I have ever brought and will show you many creative ways to use eBay to increase you online profits.
Have a Great Week,
Jeffrey
